Weldon Exhibits created a dynamic, interactive museum experience focused on learning about our amazing eyes—including the science of how our eyes work, the evolution of our understanding and treatment of eyes, new frontiers in ophthalmological research and innovation, and how to support eye health.
“The Amazing Eye:” Starts with a compelling large format media display on a translucent glass wall visible from outside the building. Tactile biological models and bold graphics lure guests to step inside the museum and explore the wonders of the eye. Guests explore the eye’s anatomy and discover how it works, deepening their understanding and gaining a greater appreciation for their own eyes.
In the Perception Gallery guests are invited to explore visual perception through a mix of playful imagery, physiological illusions and engaging hands-on interactives. They also have an opportunity to explore phenomena such as persistence of vision and color blindness.
The Evolution of Understanding & Healing gallery begins a journey through the history of discovery and pioneering experiences of physicians that brought ophthalmology to where it is today. Through a mix of artifacts and multimedia, guests can explore the narrative of medical innovation beginning in ancient times and invites guests into the shoes of those who pondered over the complexities of the eye.
In the New Frontiers in Research & InnovationGallery guests step into the future of the ophthalmology to explore new frontiers in eye treatments and the pressing efforts to develop and disseminate eye-care. In the modern lab setting guests explore using a mix of graphics and media, spinning displays, virtual reality surgery, and group interactives to get a behind the scenes looks at the biomedical innovation process.
